Trail Walk episode #13 A

It's 8:30 in the morning, the first of June, as people begin arriving at the Royalty Junction, the beginning of the spur line to Charlottetown.

We have decided to delay our Confederation Trail Walk for a day to gather with the many persons that are part of the Coalition for the Eradication of Poverty in PEI. Our Coalition group will begin a walk to Charlottetown on the spur line and hopefully we will meet with Premier Robert Ghiz at Founder's Hall.
As we depart toward our destination for the day we wave au revoir.

To keep our energy up as we walk the 8 km to Founders Hall we are nourished by a very kind person who has brought us bananas.

As we continue to walk pass the university grounds we notice the many horse in the field.

We take time to chat to other persons on the trail to explain to them what we are all about. This time its a young Mom with her young sleeping baby in a carriage. She is very supportive when we explain that we are walking to encourage islanders to take part in the public meetings on developing a strategy to Eradicate Poverty in PEI.

The benches that are strategically placed along the trail are a great place to rest our weary feet.

It's noon as people begin to arrive in Founders Hall.

We are met by the media peson who shows much interest in our project. But we are disappointed by the fact that Premier Ghiz nor no MLA's have replied to our invitation to meet and greet us.

Tomorrow morning, June 2nd, we will head back to Tracadie to resume our walk on the Confederation Trail. Our next stop will be Mount Steward.
